IndiGo Flight Encounters Landing Mishap at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport
In a recent incident, an IndiGo flight experienced a landing mishap at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital. The aircraft, traveling from Kolkata to Delhi on May 11, was in the process of landing when its tail part made contact with the ground. Although the incident occurred two days ago, details have only recently emerged.
Fortunately, passengers on board breathed a collective sigh of relief as the plane safely landed despite the tail contact. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a statement regarding the incident on Tuesday. Initially, there were no issues during the flight, but as the aircraft approached the runway, the pilots noticed unusual behavior in its movement.
According to the DGCA, the tail of the aircraft struck the runway floor during landing, resulting in damage to the rear section of the plane. In response, IndiGo has temporarily suspended its services while the investigation is underway. The pilots who were operating the aircraft at the time have also been relieved of their duties pending further inquiry.
IndiGo has not disclosed the exact number of passengers on board the flight. The DGCA is diligently investigating the incident to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
