Injury Blow for India's Rohit Sharma ahead of WTC Final Clash Against Australia

In a major injury scare on the eve of day one of the World Test Championship final against Australia, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was struck on his left thumb during a net session, causing concern among fans. The team's physiotherapist attended to Rohit Sharma immediately, after which he returned to the nets. However, the batsman opted not to continue batting, raising worries about his fitness. The incident occurred during an optional practice session prior to the highly anticipated fixture. Rohit Sharma, a right-handed batsman, was facing throwdowns in the nets when the ball struck his left thumb. It is worth noting that just a few days before the final, Sharma was seen wearing a bandage on his right arm, and now he has suffered an injury to his thumb. The World Test Championship final holds immense significance for Rohit Sharma, as it will be his most challenging test as Test captain—a role he assumed in January 2022 after Virat Kohli stepped down. Although Sharma has led the Indian team in six matches, all of them were played on home soil. As the Indian team prepares to take on Australia in the pinnacle event of Test cricket, the injury to Sharma raises concerns about his availability and form for the crucial match.
