Daam' Virus Strikes Androids, Exposing Call Records to Cybercriminals

In a recent development, the Central Government has issued a critical advisory warning citizens about a malicious malware known as "Daam" that poses a serious threat to Android phones. According to CERT-In, "Daam" has the ability to infiltrate various aspects of an infected device, including call records, contacts, browsing history, and even the camera. The advisory specifically cautions that "Daam" can deploy ransomware on targeted devices, further exacerbating the potential damage and extortion threats faced by victims. The distribution of the Android botnet, carrying the "Daam" malware, predominantly occurs through third-party websites or applications downloaded from unreliable or unknown sources. CERT-In, as the federal technology arm responsible for combating digital assaults and safeguarding cyberspace against phishing, hacking, and other online threats, plays a crucial role in protecting the nation's digital infrastructure. The government's advisory serves as a stern warning to Android phone users to remain vigilant and adopt necessary precautions to protect their devices and personal data from the "Daam" malware. By raising awareness about the "Daam" malware and its potential impact, the Central Government aims to empower citizens to take proactive measures in securing their Android devices and staying safe in the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.
