Senior Advocate Jada Shravan Kumar arrested
Amaravati: In response to rallies called by both ruling and opposition parties, Section 144 has been imposed in Thullur, Guntur district. Tensions have risen as the Guntur district TDP president, Tenali Shravan Kumar, called for a protest against the R-5 zone, while YSRCP leaders planned a two-wheeler rally in support of the zone. To preempt any potential law and order issues, the police had earlier imposed Section 144 and Section 30 of the Police Act in Thullur.
However, farmers led by the TDP staged a protest against the R-5 zone in Thullur, despite the imposed restrictions. The police, who had already deployed hundreds of personnel at the protest site, swiftly arrested the farmers. Shockingly, the police did not differentiate between women, elderly individuals, and other protestors, forcefully apprehending them. Even Jada Shravan Kumar, a senior advocate of the High Court and president of the Jai Bhim Bharat Party, was among those arrested. The arrests have created a tense atmosphere at the protest site.
The arrested farmers and women were forcefully loaded into vehicles and taken to Thullur Police Station, while strict measures have been implemented to prevent anyone from entering the protest site. The police have warned that any individual attempting to protest or enter the area will be arrested. In addition, TDP leaders have been placed under house arrest by the police in Thullur Mandal, further escalating the situation.
