Assam Govt Hand Over Investigation Of 'Lady Singham' Junmoni Rabha Death To CBI

In a significant development, the Assam government has decided to hand over the accident case involving Sub Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The decision comes in response to the persistent demand from the deceased officer's family for a CBI inquiry into her alleged murder. The Director General of Police (DGP) Assam, while addressing the media, cited two primary reasons for transferring the case to the CBI. Firstly, it was done to uphold public sentiments, and secondly, to ensure a neutral and unbiased investigation. The incident surrounding the death of Junmoni Rabha has triggered widespread discussions and left several unanswered questions. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken charge of the investigation, aiming to uncover the truth behind the circumstances leading to her untimely demise. Suspicions arose when an eyewitness claimed that Rabha's car was stationary when it was struck by the truck. Furthermore, the postmortem report revealed injury marks on the back of her head, and a leaked phone call involving a police driver suggested the possibility that she might have been killed prior to the accident. Following her tragic death, the case was initially handed over to the CID of the Assam Police for a thorough investigation. The CID's scope includes not only probing the circumstances surrounding the officer's death but also looking into another case filed against Rabha, which includes allegations of extortion, dacoity, wrongful confinement, and criminal conspiracy in Lakhimpur district, a day before her demise.
