Adani-Hindenburg Controversy: Experts Committee Report Gives Big Relief to Adani Group

The committee appointed by the Supreme Court and led by retired judge A.M. Sapre has concluded its investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg controversy, stating that there was no regulatory failure regarding compliance with the minimum public shareholding stipulations. In their report submitted to the apex court, the committee highlighted that the "Hindenburg Report" contained no new data but mainly consisted of inferences drawn from publicly available information. The committee's report emphasized that it would not be possible to conclude that there was a regulatory failure in terms of compliance with the stipulations governing minimum public shareholding. This finding is likely to have significant implications for the ongoing controversy surrounding the Adani Group and the Hindenburg Research report, which alleged non-compliance with regulatory requirements. One crucial aspect highlighted in the report was the feedback received on the Hindenburg Report, which stated that it lacked fresh data and instead relied heavily on drawing conclusions from publicly available information. The committee deemed this feedback noteworthy, suggesting that the Hindenburg Report may not have presented any substantial evidence to support its claims.
