Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan Arrested In Corruption Case

In a surprising turn of events on Tuesday, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was taken into custody by paramilitary forces at the Islamabad High Court. Khan was scheduled to attend a hearing related to a corruption case when the arrest occurred. Members of his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claim that police entered the court and forcefully removed Khan from the premises. PTI leader Azhar Mashwani accused the Rangers, a paramilitary force, of abducting Khan from inside the court and called for nationwide protests in response to the incident. This dramatic development took place just one day after the Pakistan Army publicly criticized the former prime minister for making "highly irresponsible and baseless" allegations against a serving Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officer without providing any supporting evidence.
