Cyclone 'Mocha' Set to Strike Bay of Bengal: Two States AP, Odisha on Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about an approaching cyclone, 'Mocha,' that is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal by May 6. IMD has predicted that the cyclone could impact the states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, leading to heavy rainfall. This news comes after Cyclone Asani caused massive destruction in the same region in May of last year. IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions and stay safe. In Andhra Pradesh, unexpected rainfall has already caused damage to crops such as paddy, maize, and chilli, with farmers demanding that the state government purchase the wet crops. The weather department has forecasted more changes in the next 48 hours. On the other hand, many low-lying areas in Chennai have already been submerged in rainwater. In Tamil Nadu, unseasonal rains have destroyed crops, and the weather department has issued an Orange alert in 11 districts. The transportation system has also been severely affected due to the heavy rainfall and falling trees. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising citizens to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
