Rs 1 crore seized from box hidden in a tree, Karnataka

Karnataka: The Income Tax department in Karnataka's Mysore has seized one crore rupees from the house of Subramania Rai, who is the brother of Congress’s Puttur candidate Ashok Kumar Rai. The cash was discovered hidden in a box on a tree during a raid conducted on Wednesday. The I-T department has been conducting a series of such raids in poll-bound Karnataka in recent weeks. Additionally, the Bengaluru Police have also caught two men carrying Rs 1 crore unaccounted cash in an auto near the City Market area on April 13. With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in place, moving a large sum of cash without proper documents is prohibited in the state.
