Fish before temple: Rahul Gandhi's unique Udupi experience

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on a campaign trail in Udupi, Karnataka, where an interesting incident occurred. During his visit, he was gifted a fish named Anjal by the Gangaputras, and a photo was taken of him holding the fish. Later, he visited the Mahalaxmi temple, where he hesitated to enter. He asked the people present if he could come into the temple after touching the fish. The locals gave him permission to do so, and he stayed outside for a few minutes before being taken inside by the temple priests and Congress workers. Special pujas were performed on the occasion. Gandhi had earlier promised to help fishermen in the area, and the incident with the fish took on symbolic significance as he continued to campaign and make promises to support their community.
