Punjab: Parkash Singh Badal, the five-time Chief Minister of Punjab and patriarch of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), passed away at a private hospital in Mohali. He was 95 years old and had been suffering from bronchial asthma. Badal is survived by his son and current SAD leader, Sukhbir Singh Badal, and his daughter Parneet Kaur, who is a Member of Parliament. According to a media bulletin from Fortis Hospital, Badal was admitted on April 16 for acute exacerbation of his bronchial asthma. His respiratory condition worsened, and he was moved to the medical ICU on April 18. Despite receiving medical management and being on NIV and HFNC support, Parkash Singh Badal's health did not improve. He was under the care of Digambar Behera and a team of pulmonology, critical care, and cardiology specialists. Unfortunately, he passed away due to his illness, the hospital statement confirmed.
