An independent candidate from Yadgir constituency in Karnataka made headlines when he paid his nomination deposit of Rs 10,000 entirely in coins. The candidate, Yankappa, collected the money from people across the constituency to contest the upcoming Karnataka elections on May 10. Yankappa, who vowed to dedicate his life to the villagers, arrived at the returning officer's office with posters of Swami Vivekananda's ideologies written on them. "I will dedicate my life to the people of my community and villagers," Yankappa said. Karnataka is set to go to Assembly polls on May 10, with the counting of votes to take place on May 13. Yankappa's unique nomination deposit has certainly made him stand out from the rest of the candidates.
