Woman tourist meditating on Leshan Giant Buddha in China goes viral

Most tourists visiting Southwest China's Sichuan Province are familiar with the Leshan Giant Buddha as a must-visit spot. This over 1,000-year-old statue is not only a typical representative of ancient stone carving art history but also a treasure of Buddhist culture. Recently, a video of a tourist climbing over protective railings and meditating on the head of the 70-meter Leshan Giant Buddha while wearing white clothes went viral on social media. The tourist was eventually removed by a site employee, as shown in the video posted by netizens. On the same day, the scenic area staff announced that the tourist had been safely taken away, and further investigation was underway. Some netizens speculated that the woman may be seeking publicity, while others suggested that she may have a history of mental illness. Incidents of tourists encroaching on cultural relics in scenic spots have occurred before.
