New Delhi: On March 27, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned amidst protests by Congress-led opposition MPs over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, adjourned the proceedings in less than a minute after Congress MPs threw papers at his chair while wearing black clothing to protest the disqualification. Meanwhile, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the Rajya Sabha until 2 p.m. amidst the opposition protests. Earlier in the day, opposition leaders from various parties attended a meeting to discuss a joint strategy, and Congress MPs filed an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha. The protests are likely to intensify in the coming days as the opposition seeks to hold the government accountable and press for the reinstatement of Rahul Gandhi's parliamentary membership.
