Osmania Medical College, launches the first of its kind Skill Lab in Telangana!
The Osmania Medical College (OMC) has recently launched a pioneering initiative to help young doctors refine their procedural skills in a safe and controlled environment. The newly inaugurated Skill Lab is a one-of-a-kind facility designed to cater to nearly 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as para-medical technicians, each year. The Director of Medical Education, Dr K Ramesh Reddy, unveiled the prototype demo and learning facility, which will help healthcare professionals fine-tune their clinical skills before they embark on real-life applications.
The lab is a valuable platform for medical professionals to practice procedural skills such as trauma management, basic life support, paediatric emergency, obstetrics emergency, and acute cardiac management. This initiative is a step in the right direction, and the Principal of OMC, Dr P Shashikala Reddy, has emphasized the importance of this facility in the development of young doctors' skills.
Moreover, the Skill Lab is hosting a five-day training of trainers from March 13 to 17. The training is open to medical, surgical, paediatric, anesthetic, and obstetrics specialty doctors from Government Medical College, Nizamabad, Gandhi Medical College, Guntur Medical College, and Kakatiya Medical College. This training will equip the trainers with the necessary skills to teach and mentor their peers, ensuring that the benefits of the Skill Lab reach far and wide.
