Centre Opposes Same S*x Marriages, Says ,'Against Indian Culture,' In SC Affidavit

In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, the Central Government has expressed its opposition to same-s*x marriage, stating that it is not in line with the country's culture. The Centre argued that the very concept of marriage inherently involves a union between two individuals of opposite genders. It also emphasized that this definition of marriage is deeply embedded in the social, cultural, and legal fabric of the country and should not be altered through judicial interpretation. The Centre further argued that seeking the declaration of solemnization or registration of same-s*x marriage has far-reaching implications beyond mere legal recognition. Family issues are complex and extend well beyond just recognizing and registering a marriage between individuals of the same gender.
