Telangana IT and Industries Minister, KT Rama Rao, has said that India would already be a $5tn economy if the rest of the country had performed as well as Telangana. Speaking at a conference on Tuesday, Rama Rao criticised the central government for penalising the state, saying it was not receiving adequate support for major projects, such as the Hyderabad Pharma City and Kakatiya Mega Textile Park. The minister added that the Indian government had not delivered on the promises made to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. Rama Rao also questioned the impact of the “Make in India” initiative.
Telangana's IT and Industries Minister, KT Rama Rao, has urged the central government not to try to hold all the power in a democratic India. He added that the country needed to find ways to compete with China, which has managed to manufacture and sell goods at prices lower than domestic products in other countries. The minister also called on the central government to revisit its duty structure, raw materials and impeding roadblocks to growth in the country, and to look at ways of encouraging entrepreneurs. Rama Rao covered a range of sectors in which Telangana has made progress, saying the state has been at the forefront of development since its creation in 2014.
