Kohinoor Controversy: Journalist Shouts 'It's From India' During UK TV Show Debate

The preparations for the coronation of Britain's King Charles III are in full swing, with the ceremony set to take place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London. The event is expected to be a grand affair, with several elements including the crown, music, and guests being meticulously planned. Recently, the question of whether Queen Consort Camilla would be wearing the Kohinoor studded crown was finally answered by Buckingham Palace, who confirmed that she would not. Following this announcement, a video of a heated debate on a UK TV show about the Kohinoor diamond has gone viral on social media. Indian-origin journalist Narinder Kaur fact-checked broadcaster Emma, who was discussing the disputed history of the diamond. Kaur shouted that the Kohinoor is from India and should be returned to the country. The Kohinoor diamond, which is said to be over 5000 years old, has a tumultuous history, having been passed between different rulers and empires over the centuries. It is currently part of the British Crown Jewels, having been presented to Queen Victoria in 1851 after the annexation of the Punjab. The diamond has long been a point of contention between India and the UK, with many in India calling for its return. While some argue that the diamond was taken as part of a treaty and should remain in the UK.
