Hijab in Crisis: Turkish Woman Refuses to Leave Rubble Without Headscarf

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Gaziantep on Monday, a Turkish woman refused to leave the rubble of her family's home without first being given a headscarf. As rescue teams worked to extricate the woman and her three children from the rubble, she made it clear that she would not leave without being provided with a head covering to cover her head. The rescue team quickly responded to the woman's request, providing her with a headscarf. Once she had it securely in place, the woman crawled out of the rubble on her hands and knees with the assistance of rescuers, who were constantly trying to calm her and keep her spirits up. As the woman was carried to safety on a medical crane, rescuers and witnesses can be heard praising her faith and dedication, with one rescuer exclaiming "Aunty, I love your emaan!" The moment was met with loud applause and Takbeer (a chant of "Allahu Akbar", or "God is the greatest"), as the woman was safely rescued from the rubble of her family's home.
