Separated by Borders: Nandyal Woman with Children Struggles to Reunite with Imprisoned Pakistani Husband

Sheikh Daulat Bi, a woman from Gadivemula in Nandyal district, India, was married two years after her husband died. She came in contact with a Pakistani citizen, Gulzar Khan, in 2010 and they married in 2011. The couple had five children and lived together for nine years until Gulzar was arrested and sent to jail in 2019 after entering India illegally. Despite being released six months later due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gulzar was shifted back to a jail in Hyderabad in 2022. Daulat Bi is now struggling to support her five children and her sister with mental retardation, while also seeking the release of her husband.
