Officials cover excavated Visakhapatnam's Rushikonda with geo mats

Visakhapatnam: Controversy surrounds Rushikonda in Visakhapatnam as officials cover the excavated areas of the hill with geo mats. Critics and social media users claim that the government is using the mats to make Rushikonda appear more verdant ahead of the upcoming G20 summit being held in the city. The government excavated the hill to construct the buildings and many approached courts citing the state government allegedly violated the regulations. However, as per the sources, officials said that the mats will facilitate tree growth, prevent soil erosion, and minimize mudslides. It is said that the officials also announced that they plan to cover more of the hill with the mats in the near future.
