HC gives green signal to CID probe against Ayyanna Patrudu

09-11-2022 Wed 15:49 | News & Politics
Ayyanna Patrudu, the senior leader of the TDP, is accused by the CID of grabbing 0.16 cents of land from the department in charge of water resources. The former minister Ayyannapatrudu, on the other hand, has petitioned the High Court to have the land encroachment allegations brought against him dismissed. The High Court heard the petition today. "My client has been purposefully listed as a Section 467 defendant,'' according to Ayyanna's lawyer, and added that Section 467 is unconstitutional in this situation. On the other hand, the CID's counsel contended that the Executive Engineer is threatened and intimidated if he files a complaint against Mr. Ayyanna. Therefore, Section 467 is applicable, the CID counsel defended. The court made it apparent that Section 467 is not applicable in this case after hearing arguments from both sides. On the other hand, the HC stated that notices under Section 41A may be issued and a CID investigation may be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the CrPC.
