Huge ruckus erupted at Chandigarh University over video leaks

There was a major late-night protest at Chandigarh University when a huge argument broke out amid claims that offensive videos of female students were posted widely online. The university announced a two-day holiday when the demonstration became violent. It was claimed that all began with charges that one of the female students had sent a video to a boy in Shimla. She was accused of sharing several videos of other students. In a statement, Chandigarh University made it clear that "no films (were) uncovered of any students that are unacceptable, with the exception of a girl's own private video that she shared with her boyfriend on her own." The Punjab government has asked for an investigation by a panel made up of senior officials. The truth will come to light, according to Punjab IG Gurupreet, after the suspects have been taken into jail and their mobile phones have undergone forensic examination. Police and the university rejected allegations that numerous videos were produced and distributed. The senior superintendent of police in Mohali, Vivek Sheel Soni, responded to allegations that some girls had committed suicide by clarifying that no such incidence had occurred.
