High court directs the police to submit the chargesheet, criminal history of MLC Ananta Babu

On Friday, the High court ordered the police to provide the chargesheet, criminal history of MLC Ananta Babu, and the post-mortem report of the deceased driver, V Subrahmanyam. Ananta Babu filed two bail petitions with the High court after being detained on suspicion of killing Subrahmanyam. Ananta Babu's senior lawyer K. Chidambaram argued that since the police failed to submit a comprehensive chargesheet to the relevant court within 90 days, Ananta Babu was qualified to receive default bail. The deceased's mother, Nukaratnam, filed an impleaded petition in this litigation. On behalf of MLC, senior lawyer Chidambaram contended that the chargesheet submitted by the police in the lower court was dismissed by the court due to flaws in it. Senior lawyer Posani Venkateswarlu argued on her behalf that because the police had submitted the chargesheet within 90 days, Ananta Babu was ineligible for default bail. After taking into account the arguments from both sides, Justice Chimalapati Ravi ordered the police to present the chargesheet, Ananata Babu's criminal history, and Subrahmanyam's post-mortem report to the court. It then set the subject for further hearing on September 14th.
