Mukesh Ambani, family's security can stay with Centre, says Supreme Court

On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected a petition that questioned whether the central government could continue to protect industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family in Mumbai. Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli all agreed to dismiss the appeal of the federal government against the Tripura High Court's ruling in a Public Interest Litigation, or PIL. The Tripura High Court's order on a PIL has been challenged by the Central Government in an appeal, which the court has accepted. The Tripura High Court's rulings on the case contesting the security provided to the industrialist and his family in Mumbai were placed on hold by the court in late last month. The Supreme Court dismissed the lawsuit and declared that there was no cause for it to be heard, overturning the high court's directives.
