The BJP has named 18 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections on June 10, including Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman from Maharashtra and Karnataka, respectively. Six of the 18 applicants come from Uttar Pradesh. The news is facing considerable controversy about its roster of 18 candidates for the June 10 elections. Elections will be held in 15 states for 57 seats. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minority Affairs Minister and Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand, is not on this list. Prakash Javadekar, a former Union Minister, has also been dropped. The BJP, on the other hand, is yet to declare at least two more Rajya Sabha candidates, both from Uttar Pradesh. Shiv Pratap Shukla, the BJP's Rajya Sabha main whip and a former Union Minister, is also barred.
