"Am I Less Deserving?": Congress's Nagma on being denied Rajya Sabha seat

After Nagma, a former actress turned Congress leader, was denied a seat in the Rajya Sabha elections, she wondered, "Imran Pratapgarhi from Uttar Pradesh is allowed in Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra." I wonder if I am less deserving.' 'Sonia ji, our Congress president, had committed to accommodating me in RS in 2003/04 when I joined Congress party on her insistence,' added the actor-turned-politician. The Mahila Congress in-charge expressed her dissatisfaction on Monday after her name was taken off the list of candidates provided on Sunday. Her tweet was a response to an earlier one in which she expressed solidarity with fellow Congress leader Pawan Khera, who had tweeted, 'Maybe something was lacking in my penance.' The Congress announced ten candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections for June 10th. Former Union ministers P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, the party's top spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, former Union ministers Mukul Wasik (Rajasthan), and Vivek Tankha (Madhya Pradesh), among others, are among them.
