Viral Video: Women in Sudan searching for bridegroom

A Sudanese woman has become the talk of the town after being seen strolling the streets with a placard that read, "I want a groom." I want to get married. Polygamy is OK to me." People are wondering what caused her to make such a step in search of a husband. Sudan has recorded a dramatic decrease in marriage rates and a big increase in divorces in recent years. Marriage rates fell by 21% in 2020 when compared to 2018. Meanwhile, startling figures released by the Sudanese judiciary last year revealed that seven divorces occur every hour in Sudan, with the number of cases expected to exceed 60,000 by 2020. Experts attribute the large decline to a variety of factors, including Sudan's poor economic state and the impact of the pandemic.
