India wins maiden Thomas Cup title, beats Indonesia 3-0

The Indian men's badminton team made history by winning the Thomas Cup for the first time, defeating 14-time winners Indonesia 3-0 in the final in Bangkok. Indian men had previously reached the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup in 1952, 1955, and 1979. Victories by Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in doubles, and former World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth helped India win the cherished trophy, the most coveted title in men's team badminton. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Anuraj Thakur, and Abhinav Bindra, the country's first individual gold medalist at the Olympics, led the nation in congratulating the men's badminton team on their historic maiden title in the Thomas Cup World team badminton championships in Bangkok on Sunday.
