Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has joined others from across the country in criticising Union Home Minister Amit Shah for speaking a meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee in New Delhi on Thursday that people should use Hindi rather than local languages as an alternative to English. KTR's remarks came amid a backlash from the south after Mr Shah called for actions to boost the prominence of Hindi.
