Jagdeep Dhankar, the Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman, hoisted the national flag at Gaj Dwar in the new Parliament building in Delhi on Sunday, a day ahead of the upcoming 2023 Parliamentary Session. Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, was also present at the event. The special five-day parliamentary session, commencing on Monday, is expected to feature lawmakers bidding farewell to the old Parliament building. The inauguration of the new building is scheduled for Ganesh Chaturthi, falling on September 19, as per government sources. During the initial day of this special session, both Houses are likely to discuss the historical role and significance of the old Parliament building before and after India's independence. Parliamentarians will share their recollections and experiences.
