West Bengal: A tragic incident unfolded in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Sunday, as an explosion tore through a residence reportedly being used illicitly as a firework factory. The blast claimed the lives of at least seven individuals and left numerous others injured. Local reports indicate that the house located in Duttapukur, Barasat, had been storing raw materials for manufacturing fireworks, all without the requisite permissions. A local police official stated, "An explosion has led to the unfortunate loss of lives in Duttapukur. A rescue operation is currently underway. The injured individuals have been swiftly transported to the Barasat hospital for medical treatment."
