Gannavaram's former YSRCP figure, Yarlagadda Venkatarao, has made an official move to the Telugu Desam Party. Welcomed by the party's National General Secretary, Nara Lokesh, Venkatarao received the party's symbolic yellow scarf. Before this transition, he had met with TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu to communicate his intentions. Venkatarao, who ran in the 2019 elections representing the YSRCP in Gannavaram, narrowly lost by 838 votes to Vallabhaneni Vamsi. His decision to switch parties may have been influenced by Vamsi's move to YSRCP and his own subsequent removal from the post of DCCB chairman.
