Russia's first attempt to reach the Moon in 50 years ended in disappointment when their Luna-25 spacecraft crashed on the lunar surface. Although the craft managed to orbit the Moon last week, it lost contact with mission control on August 19 following a crucial maneuver. The Russian space agency, Roscosmos, announced on Telegram that the Luna-25 had collided with the Moon due to a change in its planned trajectory. In other space news, India's Chandrayaan-3 Moon mission is on track. The Vikram lander is set to try a soft landing on the Moon on August 23, at 4.34 pm UAE time.
