In a major move, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the Andhra Pradesh government is doing away with the five-year rule for contract employee regularisation. This means contract workers can now more easily become regular employees. This change is part of CM Jagan's goal to make as many contract employees regular as he can. It's estimated that around 4,000 contract workers will gain from this. Also, the government has decided to give a pay raise to outsourcing workers in the electricity department. Their salaries have been boosted by 37%. This means around 27,000 of these workers will see bigger paychecks. Both announcements were happily received by the employees affected.
