Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Union Cabinet has given the green light to a new scheme called "PM-eBus Sewa." This plan aims to increase city bus services, focusing on places that don't have any organized bus service. Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced in a press meeting that 10,000 electric buses (e-Buses) will be put into service across 169 cities. The scheme is expected to create between 45,000 and 55,000 new jobs. The total cost for this new program is Rs 57,613 crore. The Central government will provide Rs 20,000 crore, and the state governments will pay the rest. Thakur explained that the buses will be bought through a system called PPP mode, where companies can bid to be part of the program. Private companies are encouraged to join in. The plan will continue until the year 2037.
