The Karnataka high court has put a hold on the FIR lodged against actor-turned-politician Upendra. He faced legal action due to alleged derogatory remarks against the SC Holeya community on social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, last Saturday. Following the comments, there were protests. Dalit organizations in Ramanagara expressed their anger by burning tyres and the actor's posters. Additionally, students at Bangalore University set his effigy on fire. In response to the backlash, Upendra removed the video with the contentious remarks and issued an apology on social media. In his statement, he said, “I mistakenly used a proverb in today's live broadcast. Realizing it upset many, I quickly removed the video. Please accept my apology.”
