As the ODI World Cup 2023 draws near, preparations are in full swing, leaving around two months until the event commences. However, a challenge emerged at Eden Gardens, a renowned cricket venue, when a fire incident occurred on Thursday. Snehashish Ganguly, President of the Cricket Association of Bengal, confirmed the occurrence, expressing relief over the swift containment of the situation. The fire ignited around 11.50 pm, prompting the attention of workers who observed smoke. Immediate action involving two fire tenders curtailed significant damage, primarily affecting cables. Ganguly stressed that no sabotage was involved. The smoke originated from the away team's dressing room due to ongoing nearby renovation work, with the false ceiling identified as the ignition source. Firefighters promptly quelled the flames.
