The Supreme Court has paused the decision of the High Court that disqualified Kothagudem MLA, Vanama Venkateswara Rao. The High Court had earlier canceled his MLA membership, saying he hid details about his and his wife's properties when he ran for election. Justice G Radha Rani said on Tuesday, July 25, that Vanama Venkateswara Rao's election was not valid because he didn't give all the information about his properties in his paperwork. The High Court also said Rao must pay a fine of ₹5 lakh. Vanama Venkateswara Rao, who was elected as a Congress party member, was challenged by Jalagam Venakat Rao. Jalagam, who ran for the BRS party, said Rao hid property details in his election papers. Now, the Supreme Court has told the people who complained about Vanama Venkateswara Rao to respond within two weeks. The next court date is in 4 weeks.
