A violent mob attack at the office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma resulted in five security personnel sustaining injuries. Fortunately, Mr. Sangma himself remains unharmed. At present, he is still inside his office in Tura, while outside, hundreds of protesters have surrounded the compound. The attack appears to be linked to the ongoing demands of Garo Hills-based civil society groups, who have been on a hunger strike, pressing for the establishment of a winter capital in Tura. The situation has escalated as tensions rise, and authorities are working to control the crowd and ensure the safety of both the Chief Minister and the public.
