Heavy rains in the river basins of Maharashtra and Telangana have caused flooding in the Godavari river. The water level at Bhadrachalam has risen above 43 feet, prompting officials to issue the first emergency alert. The stream flowing from Bhadrachalam reaches the Cotton Dam in Dhavleswaram, where the water level is currently at 8.8 feet at the Cotton Barrage. To manage the situation, authorities are releasing 5,83,000 cusecs of water into the sea and 11,100 cusecs into the delta crop canals. The flood is expected to intensify further, and there are concerns about high water levels at Dhavaleswaram on Friday. To coordinate relief efforts, control rooms have been established at Bhadrachalam, Kothagudem RDO offices, and the tahsildar offices of flood-prone mandals. These control rooms will aid in managing the flood situation and provide assistance to affected areas.
