On Saturday, a group of 20 stray canines outside the airport in Mumbai received identification cards. The "Aadhaar" cards that are hung around their necks feature a QR code that, when scanned, reveals the dog's details, including name, a feeder's contact information and information about vaccination and sterilization in the event that the dog is misplaced or relocated. Akshay Ridlan, an engineer from Sion who developed the distinctive identifying tags for dogs through a project called "pawfriend.in," stated, "We started about 8.30 am and were chasing the dogs to patch the QR code tags and to vaccinate them. "The QR code tag can assist in reuniting a lost or relocated pet with its family. It can also assist BMC in keeping track of the city's stray animals in a centralized database.
