Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has announced a ban on the screening of Hindi films in Nepal's capital until a specific dialogue is removed from Om Raut's upcoming film "Adipurush," which is a modern retelling of the epic Ramayana. Mayor Shah has set a three-day deadline for the necessary changes to be made. Mayor Shah took to his Facebook page to express his decision, stating, "Until the line 'Janaki is a daughter of India' from the South Indian film 'Adipurush' is not only removed in Nepal but also in India, no Hindi films will be permitted to be shown in Kathmandu Metropolitan City." Following the Mayor's ultimatum, the makers of "Adipurush," starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, have taken prompt action. They have removed the contentious dialogue from the mythological drama in order to prevent any disruption in the film's release in Nepal.
