Palakurthi: Errabelli Dayakar Rao, the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development in Telangana, recently engaged in a unique experience during his visit to Mallampally village in Palakurthi mandal of Jangaon district. It has come to light that Minister Errabelli had previously distributed Giraka (stumpy) palm trees to the villagers in Mallampally three years ago. During his recent visit, he noticed that one of the trees was producing Kallu (palm wine), prompting him to personally climb the tree. A video captured the Minister climbing a Giraka (stumpy) palm tree and delightfully enjoying the palm wine. Giraka palm trees, smaller in size compared to regular palms, can be easily scaled to heights of 10 to 20 feet. These trees reach maturity in just five years and have the potential to yield up to 100 ice apples, offering a daily production of 3 to 10 litres of wine during the season.
