Former Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar appointed as Chief Advisor to CM KCR On Tuesday, it was announced that former Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar had been appointed as Chief Advisor to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The Chief Minister reportedly issued orders to appoint Somesh Kumar as his Chief Advisor for a period of three years, with the rank of a Cabinet Minister. Somesh Kumar had previously been appointed as Chief Secretary in December 2019, but had to step down in January 2021 after the Telangana High Court ordered his transfer to Andhra Pradesh following a writ petition filed by the Union government's Department of Personnel and Training. During his tenure as Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar played a key role in implementing several flagship initiatives of the Chandrashekhar Rao-government. Despite being relieved from his duties in Telangana and reporting for duty in Andhra Pradesh, he later applied for voluntary retirement.
