Geetha Shivarajkumar, daughter-in-law of late Rajkumar and wife of Sandalwood veteran actor Shivarajkumar, has left the Janata Dal (Secular) and joined the Congress party. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief DK Shivakumar welcomed her to the party and draped her with the Congress scarf. Geetha Shivarajkumar is set to campaign for her brother, Madhu Bangarappa, who is contesting as a Congress candidate from Soraba constituency in the upcoming assembly election. It's worth noting that her other brother, Kumar Bangarappa, is contesting as a BJP candidate from the same constituency. Geetha, daughter of former Karnataka Chief Minister Bangarappa, contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on a JDS ticket. Shivarajkumar, her husband, has defended her decision to join the Congress and has announced that he will also be campaigning for his wife.
