Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, commenced his two-day visit to Kerala by inaugurating India's first water metro system that will connect 10 islands around Kochi for seamless connectivity with the city. The water metro offers a unique urban transportation experience and is particularly valuable in cities like Kochi. The project will begin with eight electric hybrid boats, developed by Cochin Shipyard Limited, and is funded by the Kerala government and German company KfW. The water metro system features 38 terminals and 78 electric boats, making it a significant infrastructure project that will bring great benefits to the people of Kochi.
