Maharashtra: In a tragic incident, 11 individuals lost their lives and 20 others were hospitalized due to dehydration and heatstroke during a Maharashtra government event held in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai on Sunday. The event, which was organized to present the Maharashtra Bhushan Award, was attended by several dignitaries, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Union Minister Kapil Patil and state cabinet ministers were also present. Social worker Dattatreya Narayan Dharmadhikari, also known as Appasaheb Dharmadhikari, was awarded the prestigious award by Shah during the three-hour-long event, which was attended by over 10 lakh people, according to BJP officials. Medical assistance was provided to nearly 300 attendees who complained of dehydration, high blood pressure, and exhaustion.
