According to police officials, a devastating avalanche occurred on Tuesday in the Nathu La area of Sikkim, resulting in the deaths of six tourists, with many more sustaining injuries. The injured are presently being transported to the hospital in the state capital, Gangtok. A senior police official revealed that rescue and clearance operations are still in progress, and authorities are doing everything in their power to ensure everyone's safety. Nathu La, situated on the border between India and China, is renowned for its stunning scenery and is one of the country's most crucial Himalayan passes. It is located over 55 kilometres from Gangtok, and numerous tourists visit the area each year. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) reacted promptly and launched rescue operations to ensure that everyone was safe. Nathu La, located at an altitude of 14,450 feet above sea level on the international border, is one of the three open trading border posts between India and China.
