Live: PM Modi attends Padma Awards ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan
Today, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the Padma Awards were bestowed upon deserving recipients. These awards are recognized as the highest civilian honors in India and are given in three categories - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. They are awarded to individuals who have made notable contributions in various disciplines such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service, among others.
This year, President Murmu sanctioned the conferment of 106 Padma Awards, including three duo cases where the award is counted as one. The list consists of six Padma Vibhushan, nine Padma Bhushan, and 91 Padma Shri Awards. Among the awardees, 19 are women, and the list also includes two individuals from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and seven posthumous awardees.
